What It’s Really Like to Live in Westfield, MA (From a Local)

Living in Westfield isn’t about flash or hype, it’s about how life actually feels when you’re here. It’s familiar in the best way. It’s community, comfort, and the kind of place where you just feel right at home. As someone who grew up here and now lives and works here, Westfield isn’t just where I do business, it’s home in the truest sense.

One of my favorite things about living in Westfield is how deeply local life runs. My mornings often start at Circuit Coffee, grabbing a latte, running into someone I know, and easing into the day. It’s the kind of coffee shop that feels like part of the community, not just a stop along the way. Places like that are what make Westfield feel grounded and connected.

One of the most underrated parts of living in Westfield is finding your go-to pizza spot because everyone has one, and once you pick it, you’re loyal for life! That’s part of the charm here. Some nights call for a classic slice from Pasquale’s (located at 42 Franklin Street), the kind of place you end up ordering from on busy weeknights, after games, or when you just want comfort food that never disappoints. Other nights, it’s all about Family Pizza at 102 Meadow Street (across the street!) perfect for easy dinners, takeout nights, and those “what do we want to eat?” moments that don’t need overthinking. Finding your favorite pizza place is one of those small but meaningful milestones of feeling settled somewhere. It’s not about having endless options it’s about having the option you know you can count on, and Westfield is full of those everyday comforts that quietly make a place feel like home.

And then there’s Stanley Park which honestly feels like a shared memory for so many of us who grew up here. I’ve been going there since I was a kid (like… truly forever 😄). The playground, the duck pond, the walking paths… it’s one of those places that grows with you. You go as a kid, then later with friends, then maybe with your own family, and it somehow feels the same and different all at once. It’s peaceful, it’s beautiful, and it’s a reminder of how special it is to live somewhere that values green space and simple moments.

Westfield itself strikes that rare balance, quiet without feeling sleepy, active without feeling overwhelming. You get space to breathe, neighborhoods that feel neighborly, and a downtown that still feels personal. People say hello. Kids ride bikes. Community events feel like actual community events. It’s not about keeping up, it’s about settling in.

What I love most is that Westfield works for so many seasons of life. First-time buyers, people starting fresh, growing families, and longtime locals all find their place here. It’s not a town that tries to be something it’s not and that’s exactly why people fall in love with it.

If you’re thinking about moving to Westfield or anywhere in Western Massachusetts, know this: it’s not just about finding a house. It’s about finding the places you’ll return to again and again. Your coffee shop, your park, your quiet moments. And Westfield is full of them!

Finding the right home also means finding your favorite spots. Book a mini consult.

Angie Schermerhorn

I’m Angie Schermerhorn, a Western Massachusetts Realtor with the Stephanie Salerno Team at Coldwell Banker Realty, and I help first-time homebuyers and first-time sellers feel confident every step of the way.

Most of my clients are working moms, independent women, and LGBTQ+ buyers who are doing this for the first time, buying their first home, selling their first home, or stepping into their next chapter. My job is to make the process feel clear, not scary.

I break everything down in real language, advocate hard for my clients, and don’t believe in pressure, fluff, or fear-based tactics. You’ll always know what’s happening, what your options are, and what makes the most sense for you.

Outside of real estate, I’m all about community, good coffee, and a great glass of wine. I’ve lived in Western Massachusetts my whole life, and I truly love the towns I serve and the people who make them feel like home.

Buying or selling a home is a huge move financially and emotionally and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m here to guide you, protect you, and celebrate you when you get the keys (or the check!).

What truly sets me apart is how personal I make this experience. I don’t just open doors, I build real relationships. I stay accessible, I care deeply about what this move means for your life (not just your finances), and I support you long after the paperwork is signed. My clients know they can text me the “silly” questions, the big fears, and the excited wins and I’ll always show up. I always say, “Get ready to have a friend for life.”

If you’re thinking about buying or selling your first home in Western Massachusetts and want a Realtor who’s honest, down-to-earth, and truly in your corner, I’d love to help!
